The sea around the UK is divided into different areas to enable weather forecasts to be given for each region so people can easily understand which forecast applies to them
On 4 February 2002, the southern boundary of areas Plymouth and Sole, and the northern boundary of areas Biscay and Finisterre were realigned along the Metarea I/II boundary at 48°27' North. At the same time, sea area Finisterre was renamed FitzRoy
